Our Mission
To focus all of our efforts and resources toward directly benefiting the quality of life for all abandoned or mistreated pets with the ultimate goal of finding each one a loving household in which to share their lives.

Kootenai Humane Society (KHS) is a non-profit organization funded exclusively by donations and grants.

We receive numerous homeless animals everyday. We shelter, feed and provide medical care for these animals while searching for loving homes for them.

As a no-kill shelter, animals who are in our facility do not face a "be adopted quick or else" ultimatum, but rather are cared for until they can be placed.  On rare occasions, if an animal is deemed vicious or is ill beyond our means to care for it, the animal may be euthanized.
