Once Upon A Tail

KHS is the lead agency for animal welfare in Kootenai County. We provide care, shelter and adoptions for approximately 1800 animals per year. KHS takes in surrendered animals from owners that can no longer take care of their animals for many different reasons. We work very hard to take in all animals however at times we may have a waiting list.

The Community Lifeline for Animal Welfare Services (CLAWS) is sponsored by the Kootenai Humane Society. Happy Tails

About six weeks ago I lost one of my best friends of 15 years to heart disease. His name was Bert, a beautiful tuxedo cat. We had one of those deep, special bonds that can’t be explained. As a kitten, he was abandoned on the side of a road in a sack to die with his siblings. We rescued him and his twin brother. He brought so much joy into my life. I miss him dearly. Life has to go on, and no one can take his place. I believe strongly in giving these precious homeless kitties a loving home and the best life they can ask...

Welcome to our 2011-2012 Share A Little Love Discount Program! For a donation of $35.00 or more, we will send you a VIP (Very Important Pet) discount card. This card entitles you to discounts at participating businesses for one full year. The card will be valid from February 2011 through February 2012.
