tax deductible. Kootenai Humane Society is a 501c3 non profit organization. We receive no City, County, State or Government funding so we depend on people like you.

 

What Is SPOT?

SPOT is a low-cost dog & cat spay and neuter program for low-income residents. The Community SPOT Program was developed by Kootenai Humane Society to address the challenges of pet overpopulation.

 

Who Qualifies For SPOT?

You are a Senior Citizen 60 years of age or older with a low income you qualify for SPOT. You receive Federal or State financial assistance you qualify for SPOT. You meet the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines you qualify for SPOT.

 

What Are The Benefits?

Fewer litters means fewer animals killed in our community. Your pet is less likely to develop cancer if spayed prior to their first heat. Your pet is less likely to roam or runaway. Your pet is less likely to fight with other pets.
Your pet is more calm and affectionate. Your pet will be less likely to spray or mark their territory.

 

How Much Does It Cost?

Dog Spay / Neuter:
Under 50 lbs—Spay $50.00 / Neuter $45.00
51-60 lbs—Spay $60.00 / Neuter $55.00
61-65 lbs—Spay $70.00 / Neuter $65.00
Cat Spay / Neuter:
Cat Spay $40.00 / Neuter $35.00
Females in Heat $10.00 additional charge
Retained Testicle/s $15.00 additional charge

How Do I Apply? 

1. Click here to print the application and fill it out.
2. Bring or mail the application along with a copy of your driver’s license & proof of financial assistance/ proof of income to Kootenai Humane Society. Click here to view our contact information.
3. Your application will be reviewed and you will be notified.

 

Feral Fridays (Trap ~ Neuter ~ Release)

Feral Cats—wild, untamed, unable to pick up, outside free roaming cats.
KHS is helping to control the cat population by offering spay / neuters for trapped feral cats twice a month during the spring and summer seasons.

All Feral Cats will receive a de-worming injection & their left ear tipped indicating that they have been spayed / neutered.
